Australia National Cricket Team Records, Players and Results
Covers 934 matches played by Australia from Dec 2002 to Sep 2026 (Afghanistan matches are not in the open data set).
In 934 men’s internationals logged from Dec 2002 to Sep 2026, the Australia national cricket team has won more often than it has lost in every format. Count them up and there are 130 Test victories, 295 one-day wins and 126 in T20Is.
This page gathers Australia’s results by format and by opponent, the leading batters and bowlers, and the best and worst team scores. Afghanistan’s matches sit outside the open data used here, so any games against them are missing from these figures.
Australia Cricket Team Stats by Format
Test cricket is Australia’s strongest suit. Of 230 Tests since 26 Dec 2002 they won 130 and lost 63, with 37 drawn, which works out at 67.4% of decided games. ODIs are not far behind at 65.0%, built on 295 victories and 159 defeats across 477 matches. T20Is are the tightest, 126 wins to 91 for a decided-game rate of 58.1%.
The opponent tables vary a lot. New Zealand have beaten Australia once in 20 Tests (17 Australian wins), and West Indies twice in 23. India are the only side with more Test wins than Australia in this data, 19 to 16. England are the most frequent Test opponent: 61 matches, 32-19 to Australia, most of them Ashes Tests, as the England vs Australia head to head shows.
India also have the better of the T20I count, 22-12, Australia’s poorest record against a regular rival. In ODIs South Africa hold the edge, 33 wins to 23. The India vs Australia page covers the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and every white-ball game.

Australia National Cricket Team Players: Run and Wicket Leaders
Steve Smith owns the Test run record, 10,920 runs averaging 56.00 with 37 hundreds, and has won 13 Test player of the match awards. David Warner follows on 8,786 and made the second-best Test score, an unbeaten 335 against Pakistan in Nov 2019. Warner is also first for T20I runs, 3,249, and nobody from Australia has matched his 36 match awards across formats.
The one-day run list could hardly be closer at the top: Michael Clarke 6,988, Ricky Ponting 6,979. Ponting collected 18 ODI awards, the most in that format.
Nathan Lyon’s 571 Test wickets put him well clear of Mitchell Starc on 445. Brett Lee is first in ODIs on 257, and Adam Zampa leads the T20I chart with 149, almost twice Starc’s 79 in second place. Glenn McGrath produced the best Test and ODI spells, 8/24 and 7/15, while Ashton Agar’s 6/30 is the T20I best.
Highest and Lowest Totals, Biggest Wins
Matthew Hayden scored 380 against Zimbabwe at the WACA Ground in Oct 2003, part of Australia’s 735/6, and no Australian has made more in a single innings in this data. Shane Watson’s 185 not out from 96 balls at Mirpur in Apr 2011 is the ODI peak, and Aaron Finch blasted 172 from 76 balls against Zimbabwe in Jul 2018 for the T20I mark.
The heaviest Test win was by 491 runs against Pakistan at Perth in Dec 2004. In ODIs it is 309 runs against the Netherlands in Delhi in Oct 2023.
There have been rough days too. South Africa skittled Australia for 47 at Newlands in Nov 2011, and England for 60 at Trent Bridge in Aug 2015. Sri Lanka dismissed them for 74 in an ODI at the Gabba in Jan 2013, and Bangladesh for 62 in a T20I in Aug 2021. The women’s side has its own page, Australia Women records, and the long-format lists are on Test cricket records.
