Made at Multan on 7 Oct 2024, England’s 823/7 versus Pakistan is the highest team total in cricket across the 7,029 matches covered here, from Dec 2001 to Sep 2026. At the other extreme, Ivory Coast were bowled out for 7 by Nigeria at Lagos in a T20I on 24 Nov 2024.
This page ranks the ten highest and ten lowest totals in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. No Afghanistan innings appear, because the open data omits their matches. Scores from before Dec 2001 are outside the data, so these are record-book lists, not all-time lists.
How the Highest Team Total in Cricket Is Ranked
The highest-totals tables rank every completed innings by runs scored, whether the side was bowled out, declared or reached the end of its overs. A score shown as 823/7 means 823 runs for 7 wickets.
The lowest-totals tables are different. They count all-out innings only. A side that ends on a low score with wickets in hand, because of rain, a declaration or a successful chase, does not qualify. That is why every entry in the low lists shows a team bowled out.
Each list is split by format, since a good Test total and a good T20I total are not comparable. The overs column helps here: England’s 823/7 took 150 overs, while Pakistan’s 765/6 against Sri Lanka at Karachi in Feb 2009 needed 248.5 overs. Use the column headings to sort by overs or date; each format has its own table.

Test and ODI Highest Totals: Who Appears Most
The Test top ten is spread widely, but West Indies and Sri Lanka have three entries each. Sri Lanka’s include 760/7 at Ahmedabad in Nov 2009 and 756/5 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Jul 2006. West Indies made 751/5 at St John’s on 10 Apr 2004, the match in which BC Lara (West Indies) scored 400*. Only two of the ten come from after 2014: India’s 759/7 at Chennai in Dec 2016 and England’s at Multan.
The ODI list belongs to England and South Africa. England hold the top three, led by 498/4 against the Netherlands at Amstelveen on 17 Jun 2022 and 481/6 against Australia at Trent Bridge in Jun 2018. South Africa have five of the ten. The Wanderers in Johannesburg appears three times, two of them from one game on 12 Mar 2006, when Australia made 434/4 and South Africa chased it down with 438/9.
T20I Totals: Associate Nations at Both Ends
The T20I lists look nothing like the others. Zimbabwe’s 344/4 against Gambia at Nairobi on 23 Oct 2024 leads, and only three of the ten highest totals come from Test-playing sides: Zimbabwe, England, whose 304/2 came against South Africa in Manchester in Sep 2025, and India with 297/6 against Bangladesh at Hyderabad in Oct 2024. Nepal appear twice, with 314/3 and 313/2.
The lowest T20I totals are all by Associate teams. Ivory Coast’s 7 is followed by 10 from both the Isle of Man and Mongolia, and Ivory Coast appear four times in the bottom ten, Mongolia three times. More numbers for the shortest format are on the T20I records page.
Lowest Test and ODI Totals
West Indies’ 27 all out against Australia at Sabina Park on 12 Jul 2025 is the lowest Test total in the data, in just 14.3 overs. Ireland’s 38 at Lord’s in Jul 2019 is next. South Africa were the bowling side for four of the ten lowest Test totals, dismissing Sri Lanka for 42, New Zealand for 45, Australia for 47 and Pakistan for 49.
In ODIs, the USA’s 35 against Nepal at Kirtipur in Feb 2020 is the lowest, just below Canada’s 36 against Sri Lanka in Feb 2003. Sri Lanka feature three times in the ODI bottom ten, twice against India in 2023. For the full format lists, see Test cricket records and ODI cricket records.
Questions about Highest and lowest totals
What is the highest team total in Test cricket?
In this record book, it is England’s 823/7 against Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium on 7 Oct 2024. Pakistan’s 765/6 against Sri Lanka at Karachi in Feb 2009 is second. The data begins in Dec 2001, so earlier Test innings are not included.
What is the highest team total in T20I cricket?
Zimbabwe’s 344/4 against Gambia at Nairobi on 23 Oct 2024 tops the list. Most of the list is made up of Associate teams. The next highest by a Test side is England’s 304/2 at Old Trafford, Manchester, on 12 Sep 2025 versus South Africa.
What is the lowest score in international cricket?
Ivory Coast’s 7 all out against Nigeria at Lagos on 24 Nov 2024, in a T20I, is the lowest total in the data. The lowest Test total is West Indies’ 27 in Jul 2025, and the lowest ODI total is the USA’s 35 in Feb 2020.
Why does the lowest totals list only show all-out innings?
A low score with wickets left usually means the innings was cut short by rain, a declaration or a quick chase, not that the batting failed. Counting all-out innings only keeps the list to genuine collapses.
