Fastest Century in T20 Internationals: Hundreds and Fifties

Covers 3,558 men's T20Is and 2,171 women's T20Is from Feb 2005 to Sep 2026 with ball-by-ball records. Afghanistan matches are not in the open data set.

The fastest century in T20 internationals took just 27 balls, by Sahil Chauhan for Estonia against Cyprus at Episkopi on 17 Jun 2024. He went on to 144.

Between Test-playing nations the record is 33 balls by Finn Allen (FH Allen, New Zealand) against South Africa at Eden Gardens on 4 Mar 2026. India’s quickest is 35 balls by Rohit Sharma (RG Sharma). Coverage runs from Feb 2005 to Sep 2026: 3,558 men’s and 2,171 women’s T20Is, with no Afghanistan games.

How the Fastest T20 Hundred Is Measured

Speed here means balls faced to reach 100, not the final score or the strike rate for the whole innings. Allen reached three figures in 33 balls and finished on 100, while Karanbir Singh (Austria) took 37 balls to get there and went on to 164. Both are judged on the 33 and the 37.

The main men’s list is open to every T20I side. Since T20I status was extended to all ICC members, Associate batters have filled much of it. Turkey’s Muhammad Fahad is second with 29 balls against Bulgaria on 12 Jul 2025, and Namibia, Nepal, Germany, Hungary and Malta all have entries.

So a second table keeps only games where both teams are full members. Use it for the fastest T20I century in matches between the major sides. Tap any heading to sort. For the other formats, see the fastest ODI hundreds and fastest Test hundreds.

Fastest T20I Hundreds Between Test-Playing Nations

Allen’s 33-ball hundred at Kolkata tops this list. Two batters share second on 35 balls: David Miller (DA Miller, South Africa) against Bangladesh at Potchefstroom on 29 Oct 2017, and Rohit against Sri Lanka at Indore on 22 Dec 2017, an innings he took to 118.

The rest of the list is recent. Abhishek Sharma (India) took 37 balls against England on 2 Feb 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium, finishing on 135, and Tim David (TH David, Australia) also needed 37 against West Indies. India have five of the 15 places, more than any other side, with Sanju Samson (SV Samson), Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan joining Rohit and Abhishek. South Africa have four, two of them by Quinton de Kock (Q de Kock).

Only two of the 15 hundreds came before 2021. Rohit’s knock at the Holkar Cricket Stadium is still India’s fastest.

Fastest Fifty in T20 Internationals

DS Airee (Nepal) reached 50 in 9 balls against Mongolia at Hangzhou on 27 Sep 2023. In that same game Kushal Malla, also of Nepal, raced to a hundred in 34 balls, sixth on the main hundreds list.

For India, Yuvraj Singh needed only 12 balls versus England at Kingsmead, Durban on 19 Sep 2007, the quickest in the table between two Test-playing nations. Colin Munro (C Munro, New Zealand) took 14 balls against Sri Lanka in Jan 2016, and Abhishek Sharma also needed 14 against New Zealand at Guwahati on 25 Jan 2026. Sahil Chauhan appears here too, with a 14-ball fifty on the way to his 27-ball hundred.

Fifty lists use the same rule as the hundreds: balls faced to reach the milestone. Find more batting lists on the T20I records hub.

Harmanpreet Kaur (H Kaur) holds India’s place in the list with 49 balls against New Zealand at Providence Stadium, Guyana on 9 Nov 2018. Run totals for the format are on the most T20I runs page.
