Most IPL finals: who keeps getting there
Reaching the final has been almost routine for CSK. They have played in 10 of the 19 deciders and lost 5 of them, to Rajasthan Royals in 2008, KKR in 2012 and Mumbai Indians in 2013, 2015 and 2019. Mumbai Indians lost only one final, in 2010 against CSK, which gives them the cleaner record on the big day.
Gujarat Titans (GT) have been close in a short time: champions in 2022, then beaten finalists in 2023 and 2026. Sunrisers Hyderabad were runners-up in 2018 and 2024. Teams appear under today’s names, so the 2014 runners-up are shown as Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) and the beaten 2009, 2011 and 2016 finalists as Royal Challengers Bengaluru. For each team’s full story see the Sunrisers Hyderabad records or the IPL records hub.
