Ruturaj Gaikwad of Chennai Super Kings scored the most runs in IPL 2021: 635, just two more than his opening partner Faf du Plessis. Both men finished on the winning side: CSK beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in the final at Dubai on 15 Oct 2021.
This page reads every one of the season’s 60 games, played between 9 Apr and 15 Oct 2021. Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bengaluru ran away with the wickets race, KL Rahul hit the most sixes, and only four batters reached a hundred.
IPL 2021 champions and how the season unfolded
Chennai Super Kings won 11 of their 16 games, more than any other side, and closed the season with the title. Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders all finished with 9 wins, though KKR needed 17 matches to get there and lost 8. At the other end, Sunrisers Hyderabad won just 3 of 14. The team table counts every game including the playoffs, so treat it as a plain tally of wins and defeats rather than the official standings.
The venues tell their own story. The April and May games were played at grounds such as the Wankhede Stadium and Arun Jaitley Stadium, while the September and October games moved to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The final in Dubai gave CSK the fourth of their five titles; see the CSK IPL records or the full IPL winners list.

IPL 2021 Orange Cap race and the four hundreds
The top three were separated by nine runs. Gaikwad made 635 at 45.36, du Plessis 633 at 45.21, and Rahul of Punjab Kings 626. Rahul played only 13 innings, so his average of 62.60 was far higher than either CSK opener’s. Shikhar Dhawan of Delhi Capitals was fourth with 587.
The highest score of IPL 2021 was 124 off 64 balls by Jos Buttler of Rajasthan Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Delhi on 2 May. Sanju Samson made 119 for the same team in April. Rajasthan Royals took part in all four hundreds of the season: two were scored by their batters and two, by Devdutt Padikkal and Gaikwad, were made against them.
Rahul’s 30 sixes topped the six-hitting list, well ahead of the CSK pair on 23 each. Gaikwad’s 4 player of the match awards topped the season as well. Earlier and later Orange Cap winners sit on the IPL Orange Cap list.
