The Orange Cap for the most runs in IPL 2020 went to KL Rahul of Punjab Kings: 670 from 14 innings, averaging 55.83. His unbeaten 132 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on 24 Sep 2020 took 69 balls and was also the top score of the season.

The season was played in the UAE, and all 60 matches from 19 Sep 2020 to 10 Nov 2020 are covered here. Teams carry their current names, so Punjab Kings in these tables are the side then called Kings XI Punjab.

Mumbai Indians win the IPL 2020 final

Mumbai Indians were the standout side, with 11 wins from 16 games, only 3 defeats and 2 ties. They then saw off Delhi Capitals in the final at Dubai on 10 Nov 2020, winning with 5 wickets to spare. The IPL winners list has every season’s champion in one table.

Delhi Capitals played the most games, 17, and broke exactly even, 8 won and 8 lost. Sunrisers Hyderabad also won 8, from 16. At the other end, Punjab Kings won just 5 despite having the Orange Cap holder, and two of their games ended in ties.

Read the team table as a simple tally of every result, knockouts included. Positions and net run rate belong to the official standings, which this tally does not reproduce.

IPL 2020 top scorer race, Purple Cap and sixes

Rahul finished ahead of Shikhar Dhawan (Delhi Capitals), who made 618 in 17 innings and was alone in scoring two hundreds that year, both within three days against Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad) was third on 548. Of the top 15, AB de Villiers (RCB) had the quickest scoring rate, 158.74 runs per 100 balls.

Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Capitals) won the Purple Cap with 30 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians) took 27, averaging 14.96, the lowest among the top 15, and Trent Boult added 25, so Mumbai had two of the top three wicket takers. CV Varun (Kolkata Knight Riders) returned the only five-wicket haul, 5/20 against Delhi Capitals on 24 Oct 2020.

Ishan Kishan (Mumbai Indians) cleared the rope 30 times, more than anyone in IPL 2020 and ahead of Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals) on 26. Leaders from other years appear in the Purple Cap winners list, with batters on the Orange Cap roll.

Sharjah and the big totals

Six of the eight highest totals of the season came at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Delhi Capitals’ 228/4 versus KKR on 3 Oct 2020 topped the list, and Kolkata’s reply of 210/8 sits sixth.

The wildest night was 27 Sep 2020. Punjab Kings made 223/2, with Mayank Agarwal scoring 106 off just 50 balls, and Rajasthan Royals got there anyway, finishing on 226/6 after 19.3 overs.

There were 5 hundreds in IPL 2020. Ben Stokes (Rajasthan Royals) made 107* against Mumbai Indians, and two batters fell just short on 99: Ishan Kishan against RCB and Chris Gayle (Punjab Kings) against Rajasthan. At the other end, RCB were dismissed for 109 by Punjab Kings in Dubai, the smallest total of the season. Neighbouring seasons have their own pages for IPL 2021 and the 2019 season.
