Ten finals in 17 seasons is the line that defines these Chennai Super Kings IPL records. CSK won five of them (2010 and 2011, then 2018, 2021 and 2023) and were beaten in the other five.
Over 266 IPL matches between Apr 2008 and May 2026, CSK have 148 wins against 116 defeats, plus a tie and a no result: a 56.1% share of the games with a winner. MS Dhoni leads the run scorers, Ravindra Jadeja the wicket takers, and the two share the club’s player of the match record with 16 awards each.
CSK titles, finals and the recent dip
The early years set the standard. CSK reached the final in 2008, then won it in 2010 and 2011 and were runners-up again in 2012 and 2013. The season table jumps from 2015 straight to 2018, and CSK won the title in that first season back.
The best single seasons were 2011, 2018 and 2021, each with 11 wins. The IPL 2021 title came in Dubai, and the fifth followed in IPL 2023 with 10 wins.
Since then the numbers have slipped. In 2024 they won half their 14 games. In 2025 that fell to 4 wins, and in 2026 they managed 6. The latest result in the data is a heavy one: the Gujarat Titans (GT) beat them by 89 runs in Ahmedabad on 21 May 2026. To compare the five titles with other clubs, see the IPL winners list.
