Melbourne Renegades BBL Records and Stats

Melbourne Renegades Season by Season: One Title, Many Lean Years

Nothing comes close to the title season of 2018-19, when the Renegades won 10 of 16. The only other campaign with a clear winning record came early, six wins from eight in 2012-13, while 2017-18 (six from 11) and 2016-17 (four from eight) were close to even.

The years after the title were hard. The side won three of 14 in 2019-20, four of 14 in 2020-21 and three of 13 in 2021-22. A 7-8 return in 2022-23 was the nearest they came to recovery, and the two most recent seasons ended at 4-6 and 3-7. They have never finished as runners-up.

Head to head, Brisbane Heat are their favourite opponents, beaten 15 times in 23 games, and the Renegades also edge Sydney Thunder 10-9. The worst record is against Sydney Sixers, with only four wins from 19, followed by Perth Scorchers at 6-17. The Melbourne derby is the most played fixture: 29 games, with the Stars ahead 18-11. Finch, Richardson and the Leading Renegades

AJ Finch’s numbers for the club are in a different bracket. His 3,310 runs are more than twice SB Harper’s 1,433 in second place, and he has 26 fifties, two hundreds and 118 sixes. He also owns the two highest scores, 111* against the Stars on 7 Dec 2012 and 109 against the Sixers on 25 Jan 2020.

KW Richardson is the only Renegade with 100 wickets, taking 104 at 21.89. TS Rogers sits second on 47, and his 5/16 in a derby on 3 Jan 2023 has not been bettered by any Renegade. M Muralitharan conceded only 5.70 an over in 16 games.

Recent seasons have produced new names. TL Seifert scored 102 against Brisbane Heat at Geelong on 15 Dec 2025, the club’s third hundred, as the Renegades made 212/5. J Fraser-McGurk has 47 sixes in 52 innings.

Highest and Lowest Renegades Totals

The club record total, 222/4, was posted at Docklands Stadium versus Hobart Hurricanes on 12 Jan 2017. A further three scores passed 200, two of them against Brisbane Heat.

The low points both came at speed. The Stars routed them for 57 inside 12.4 overs on 3 Jan 2015, and the Sixers did it for 60, lasting just 10.4 overs, at Hobart on 13 Dec 2020. The most recent game on file, on 17 Jan 2026, was an 8-wicket loss to Adelaide Strikers.
